What Matters-Anna Beavon Gravely-Wednesday, March 15, 2017-27 Minutes

Mark speaks with Anna Beavon Gravely, spokesperson for Generation Opportunity NC, about occupational licensing reform in North Carolina, SB8 would help military families by easing licensing requirements and fees if they already have a license for a job from another jurisdiction, helping out when a family is moved a base in one state where they are licensed to another state by not requiring that they go through the often arduous process of becoming licensed all over again. Beavon Gravely says that there is much more to be done in reforming occupational licensing, as it creates barriers to entering some fields that particularly hurt millennials and discourages entrepreneurism especially for those on the lower end of the income scale who may want to start a business but can’t due to the expense and time requirements of obtaining a required license.
