What Matters for Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Welcome to Autumn! Temperatures are definitely a lot different this week, but the show is just as hot as ever! Chad starts out playing some clips from the first television talk show host, Phil Donahue. It’s amazing how well an interview with Economist Milton Friedman holds up today. Then, Carolina Plott Hound Co-founder Paul Chesser is in to talk all the news that’s worth a link. That includes the scandal over an Asheville coffee shop owners social media posts about women.

In the second hour, Chad goes into the differences between perception and reality when it comes to school spending and teacher pay. Chad shares his thoughts on the difference between selfishness and greed and apathy and dependence. It’s an interesting analysis of how education and perception and how it relates to the government. And Civitas’ Angela Hight is in to tell Chad the latest on Civitas’ 2016 Conservative Leadership Conference. There is an early bird special available by going to the event website as well as a poll on what people would like to hear more about at CLC. Check it out now.

Tomorrow and Friday, Civitas President Francis De Luca will be filling in for Chad as host. He’ll be speaking to Goldwater Institute Education Director Jonathan Butcher about ESA’s and Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute Randal O’Toole about Smart Growth.
